Week 5 Story: Greg, His Friends, and the Game

Greg, His Friends, and the Game
Greg and his friends were playing Call of Duty Warzone and were at the final circle meaning they were about to win. One of his friends was dead and had to spectate Greg and his other friend. Greg wanted to sit back and see where the last team was, while his other friend that was alive wanted to play aggressively and push out and find them. The dead friend the one that is spectating said that they should attempt to buy him back, meaning he would be able to come back and help them. The problem was each of Greg's friends' plans required him to leave his best camping spot. Despite, what his mind was telling him Greg decided to go along with both of his friends' plans. He told the friend that was alive to push out and buy his friend back while he pushes out and provides covering fire. Both of his friends agreed and decided this was the plan. As soon as Greg began to push out of his camping spot the enemy team found him and his friend and killed them both, so the match was over. Greg was scolded by both of his friends saying he should have never left his camping spot. Greg raged and turned off his Xbox and his mom came into his room and asked "What's wrong?". Greg yelled and said he can't please everyone and threw his Xbox in the trash. Greg's mother tried to calm him down and tell him he should keep his Xbox because she knows he enjoys it. Then Greg's father came into the room because of all the commotion and said that Greg should keep the Xbox in the trash and start going outside. Then Greg's parents started arguing. Greg's brother came into the room and asked if he could have the Xbox and everyone yelled at him "NO!". Will Greg play Xbox ever again?

Authors Note: For this story, I decided to take the original story of Nasruddin, His Son, and the Donkey and the lesson of not being able to please everyone and made it my own. In the original story, Nasruddin and his son were on a trip and Nasruddin was riding a donkey while his son walked. On the trip, someone scolded him for making his son walk. They switched and faced the same kind of apprehension from the next person they saw and so on. The moral of the story was that you can't please everyone and I tried to represent that here with Greg and his friends playing Call of Duty.

  1. Hey, First of all the photo made me chuckle so I appreciated that, I like how you connected the story to a video game that you like. Especially if that is a more realistic experience than riding a donkey. I like how you took this story and were able to modernize it and give it a meaning within a context of this time period!

  2. Hello, the story retelling you did is wonderful! It made me laugh in a few spots because it reminded me of when my husband plays COD sometimes. I think you did a really nice job of showing the main aspects of the original story but make it very unique in its own way. I also think the picture you posted was funny and fit wonderfully with the story.
